Anxiety

No one likes to have the feeling of being helpless or out of control.  As far as adoptions go, ours is moving on target.  But I have still been battling anxiety, especially on days when I feel like no progress or movement is happening on the adoption front.  I anxiously checked the mail this morning to find nothing but junk, no finger print appointments and no home study and other documents from our social worker.  I am constantly being reminded of this verse:

Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV) "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

This adoption experience is like nothing I've gone through before!  It is a sanctifying and patience-teaching adventure, to be sure.  But it has a beautiful end in sight!

  1. Hold fast to that verse, it is so true! I remember feeling like I would forever be waiting for something or someone and the day to meet them would never REALLY arrive. But Marianne, it's tomorrow! I will hold Baby Kira tomorrow! I'm in tears from writing those words to you just now. God is amazing!!
And one of these days you're going to be in awe of the fact that you are about to meet sweet Darya. I can't wait! I hope you don't have to endure anything like we did to get there, but we are a testimony to the fact that He will bring you through whatever may come. You'll have your girl sooner than you think! Love you sister!

  3. Thanks for the encouragement, girls! I am so encouraged as I watch your journeys unfold. Jennifer - I can't believe Sofia is HOME with you already!! And Sherry, I have been praying for your baby girl since last year and now you finally get to meet her in real life tomorrow! I am so happy for you both! I know Darya will be here before I know it. I just need to fill the time and enjoy my boys!

  4. I would say that Ella's favorite animal is a horse. She has learned the sign for it and is so cute when she does it. My mom lives in a little cottage on a horse farm and Ella loves to see them. Praying that the time passes quickly for you in regards to getting to Darya. You are right, this is a lesson in patience. I am anxious and I am not even the one going to adopt!!
